The last time there was a nonstop flight from Romania to the United States was about 15 years ago. At that time, Delta flew during the summers of 2007-2009 from its New York JFK hub.
Now with travel on the up and up (and up), a new airline is restarting the long dormant route. Leading the way will be HiSky, a Moldova-based low-cost carrier which also operates in Romania under the name HiSky (Europe).

Starting on Friday, June 7th, HiSky will be the only carrier operating a nonstop flight from Romania to the United States. The flight details are as follows:
Bucharest OTP 08:00 New York JFK 11:25
New York JFK 13:25 Bucharest OTP 06:15
The 4x weekly flights will be operated HiSky’s first widebody aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, and the only one of its kind registered to a Romanian airline.
Prices will start at 349 euros in economy class, and 1899 euros for business class. Although HiSky is a low-cost carrier — which isn’t really cool at all — a meal and a snack will be included in the price of all tickets.

Even if your final destination isn’t Bucharest, HiSky has a growing list of connections that you might want to consider. Included among those are Barcelona, Bordeaux, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, and Malaga, and within Romania, Cluj Napoca and Timișoara.
